Exercise and Politics
Exercise and politics
If I had a coherent political ideology or plan for political change...
My recommendation for exercise would be that you find one sensible way of staying active and that you do that.
This is if you don't have one already. If you already have a sensible way of staying active or otherwise engaging in exercise, then just keep it. As they say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
If I were to make some suggestions then I might suggest things like cycling, swimming, tennis, dancing, walking/hiking, going to the gym (to exercise in moderation), using a rowing machine, playing table tennis, jogging (walk-runs are better than jogging in my opinion; jogging is lame, but that's just my opinion). Aqua-aerobics or other exercise at the swimming pools (if you're older or "a bit dinged up by life
"). Maybe a sport, maybe going to them gym, maybe weights or strength training, or maybe cardio.
And then you do whatever your sensible activity is.
It is important to stay active.
But it's also important not to let exercise take over your life. That's just an opinion that I have. I feel that it's important not to let exercise take over your life.
And just make sensible decisions!

Later on, if you want. Add a second appropriate activity to what you currently do. Maybe you play tennis, but you start cycling as well. Or you swim, so you add weights at your local gym twice a week. Or you walk, and you add table tennis.

Lastly, if you have an approach that you like or find to be satisfactory (maybe you lift, do cardio, stretch and play a sport or otherwise train in a martial art or something) then don't abandon your approach to fitness. Just keep on doing what you're doing. If it makes sense to you, then just keep doing the thing that makes sense to you. Or if you're a bodybuilder, a competitive lifter, or if you play soccer or rugby competitively, or semi-competitively or if you're a competitive dancer or an equestrian. Or you love wrestling or swimming. Then you can keep doing whatever you're doing. I don't mind. If it makes sense to you, then just keep doing the things that makes sense to you.
As for the last point (keep doing the thing that makes sense to you), it doesn’t even have to make all that much sense in general for you to be able to tell yourself that it makes sense on some level. Just make decisions that seem appropriate for you.
You are free to make your own decisions. I'm not the boss of you.
If you choose to embrace something that seems like a form of madness to other people, then it’s okay to do that if it seems best to you. Like taking up boxing when you’re an adult, or if you have a bizarre need inside yourself to complete a marathon or an Ironman, or if you want to do CrossFit, or you get into Muay Thai and take it seriously and also lift at the gym. Or you want to do roller derby or a spartan race. Or you just decide not to do any exercise, simply because you don't want to and you're annoyed by suggestions that you do. You can just choose to do things. Please don't do anything tremendously immoral though. You’re just making your own choices, and you’re free to choose.
