Ideology, brainstorming

 Ideas:

Ideology for NZ:

Small minded parochial democracy

Plus:
The inalienable right to flee the country and leave, assuming you're not a prisoner or on trial for a crime
And the actual positive, active responsibility of your fellow citizens to help you to leave and find a new place to call home (even if it's just home for a few years)
And the actual ability to leave. Not just the right.

Probably social democracy, because I feel that even the mediocre should be gainfully employed! And have secure jobs with decent hours and full pay!

And bring back the ministry of works!? Because even slackers and time wasters need jobs too!! Even the useless should be employed somewhere (but stop putting them in teaching and in the civil service!!!!).

And create a cultural constitution.

Create a situation where....

We are the lawgivers for our own society.

We create laws that are of the people, from the people, for the people and by the people.

We can create...
General laws
General laws for social engineering
Moral laws
Social laws

Non binding moral principles
Non binding cultural norms and standards
Non binding statements as to the origins of our values and the historical basis from them

And we do it by writing it ourselves, and pushing it ourselves. By petition initiated referendum onto a big document in the national library.

****
****

We state stuff like...

[insert values here] - agreed to by 71% of all voters in a vote in 2037.

***

And there is no Sir Geoffrey Palmer writing this constitution.

We write it ourselves, paragraph by paragraph. We get 5% of the voters signature in a petition. And then we take a vote. And you need 66% of the population to agree to put a statement into the cultural or moral constitution. Or the values, principles and heritage document. Or to push a new law by statute relating to morality, designed to disrupt the lives of the immoral or bad, or to encourage good morals.

Public drunkenness is a bad thing, and you shouldn't do it.

Being high in public is a bad thing, and you shouldn't do it.

Being high or drunk in front of your children is bad, and you shouldn't do it.

The Bible is an important part of our moral and cultural inheritance.

The chartist movement is a significant part of our moral and cultural inheritance.

The culture of the British empire, the UK, the English and the Scottish, the welsh are all a massive part of who and what we are. These are all considered to be good things by the people of New Zealand. - voted yes by 81% of returned votes.

Notes: at the time, most people said that this was their opinion, but not their unqualified opinion. And that in a conversation with a friend they would be happy to talk about the bad things about these things.

Science, technology and engineering are our thing. People outside of "our sort" adopting the culture of these things are engaging in cultural appropriation. We fail to define who is considered to be part of "our sort". - agreed to by 68% of the people.

Note: this statement is considered by most commentators to be sarcastic, and deliberate caustic. Most liberal commentators from the media and the universities dislike it, and probably don't get it. What else... [note by David: so many people don't understand or realise just how much of science is culture, or just how much of learning how to use abstract thinking is culture - see nation by Pratchett].

We disagree with Mao Zedong. Women don't hold up half of the sky. And we wouldn't wish to burden them with that. They couldn't handle it, it would hurt them, and they would let us down, and also we might ask the to do things that weren't appropriate! (Appropriate? We will just use them as prostitutes and baby machines, or subversives spies and torturers! Because that is the only way they could "hold up the sky".

Women don't have to be wives and mothers. They can simply be people.

Women don't have to have sex or relationships. They can opt out. And do so with the backing of law.

Moderate exercise is good.

Playing fun sports is good.

Vanity is bad (a little won't kill you though). Modesty is good.

Humility is good.

The golden rule is in, and dominance thinking is out.

We believe in the negation of all forms of oppression, both the infliction of and the submission to it, and of dominance, both its imposition and its acceptance. Don't over think the language.

*

We believe people getting a fair go, not in perfect absolute freedom.

Practical freedom in the form of negative freedom, that is a good thing.
Freedom to do many of the things you desire is another question.

The practical freedom of being able to associate with the people you want to associate with, or to choose not to associate with them. Or freedom of movement, or leave the country or come back to it or to travel around it impeded. Those freedoms we want.

Freedom is a complicated matter. And we are not Americans.

*

Freedom of religion is nonsense.

*

We take active measures to keep the peace.

*

We take active measures to create a society of laws that are fair, decent and appropriate.

To live in a society with good laws is a good thing. It is a wonderful thing that should never be taken for granted.

To us, law is important, and we are skeptical of the word justice. What is justice anyway? We only see what justice is by it's absence.

See the law of Moses and the context it came out of for more information. Infer from that law what it was created to combat. See also the Gathas of Zoroaster.

The Chinese are a disappointment.
Ps: they only just learned to read.

The Han are redeemable.

Confucius is a disease.
Buddhism is a disease.
Marx, Lenin and Mao are a disease.
Chinese logographic, just like Egyptians hieroglyphs are a bad form of writing. They are inherently classist and create low quality thinkers.

The alphabets of the Sumerian Cuneiform, Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans are much better. Arabic is better than Chinese, but still not very good.

Breaking women's feet is bad (foot binding).

Female genital mutilation is bad (inside NZ culture; and for all citizens and residents always)

Male genital mutilation (aka circumcision) is a bad, backwards, outdated practise and is to be outlawed for all New Zealanders. If you want to do it, you can choose to get it done outside of the country at the age of 18. Breaking this law will see you punished with up to ten years prison. Outside of our country, it is allowable. - make this an actual law

Historically speaking, circumcision and other genital mutilation was social engineering. And it was good social engineering. But it belongs to a different time. See the principles, not the laws and rules.

Monogamy is good.

The ability to end a monogamous relationship is good.

Time in between monogamous relationships is good for you.

We intend make allowances for people who are addicted to sex or are otherwise daft when it comes to sex. We might do this with licensing or special towns you can live in.

People who practise non monogamy tend to be more corrupt. Corruption and non monogamy correlate. Maybe we just put them all on a list and push them out of town. Push them out of major cities and out of universities and university towns.

Laws: we create a system of licensing for people who want to engage in polyamory, swinging or casual sex.

Principle: we push swingers, polyamorists and casual sex enthusiasts out of positions of power, authority and responsibility. But we do it at the grass roots level.

Principle/law: infidelity in marriage is a crime, unless you both have a license to do polyamory/swinging/casual sex

Back before contraception and antibiotics, the world was different. And the consequences and repercussions of STIs, skin diseases and unexpected pregnancy were different.

And in a world where the best place for a woman to seek economic refuge was marriage, it became very important for a woman to not ruin her value on the marriage market. For example, by sleeping around. Getting a bad reputation, or having an unexpected child (even if the child were given up for adoption).

It genuinely was a different world due to the material conditions and technological mode of civilisation.

Also, a woman who lost her husband might be toast. No money, and no one strong to get things done around the home or on the farm. And no one to provide security. And so banning divorce is a reality based approach to engineering a functional society in the olden days.

Therefore:

Principle: monogamy is good, but life long monogamy might not be compulsory. I.e. you can leave.

Principle: To have 1-3 long term monogamous relationships before you get married or start a family isn’t the end of the world.

Value: sleeping around is still frowned upon, and even relationship hopping is frowned upon. Try to find someone or something stable!

Forcing someone to do drugs that they don't want to do is bad.

Weed (cannabis) is very bad for you and you shouldn't smoke it. It isn't natural to smoke weed or to be high. And it isn't a nice high anyway.

Prohibition of weed failed. We have decided to decriminalise it but regulate it heavily.

Principle: we do our own social engineering

Value: University lecturers are nothing but trumped up school masters

Value: The English language is a very good language, and it is superior to many languages.

For example, it is a great language for education. And it helps you to learn how to think more intelligently. The effects of this can be seen in part by looking at the scientific, technological, engineering and commercial achievements of English speaker. See also their humanitarian achievements.

Principle: grammar is important

Value: to be well spoken is a good thing. Life long learning is a good thing. The way you practise speaking trains the mind. The way you write trains the mind. These practises train the mind for abstract thinking. And then over time abstract thinking takes on a life of it's own.

Video gaming is a hobby
Combat sports are a hobby
Polyamory and swinging are a hobby

Individual hobbies are a privilege not a right.

Value: if you do polyamory, you aren't cool. You are annoying and probably a BORE.

If you play _literal_ silly buggers, you get punished with 24 strikes of a cane. I.E. perform buggery, we demand it. And then you get in trouble for it... then you get caned haha.

Value: Buddhism is daft. Buddhism makes you vapid, not wise.

Principle: You should love your neighbour as yourself. But you should choose to do it, not be forced to do it. You are free to choose to be wrong.

Value: You should learn all about religion. Especially things like "Love the lord your God with all of your heart, soul and mind". Develop genuine understanding of these things. But learn bit of theory, and then do 50 units of practice. Practise heaps. It is by practise that you understand moral and religious teaching.

Anyway, please don't delete this page. It is meant to be thought provoking.

And for the meantime, libertarianism probably makes sense.

Ps:

Parochial generally means having a limited or narrow outlook, or being strictly related to a local church parish. It describes a mindset or issue that is overly focused on small, immediate, or local concerns while ignoring broader, global, or national perspectives.

By the way, the beauty of democracy (if done well) is that it lets you solve problems at a point of position closer to where the problems are created.

That is, the problem solvers can be the ones closest to the problems and most capable of solving them intelligently.

Also, if all else fails, ban people over the age of 42 from sex. Or at least ban them from sex with people under the age of 42. That’s the second biggest problems in society. Old swingers. The biggest are people who have accumulated wealth and want to run society in such a manner as to keep their assets and portfolio healthy* and in tact (a complex issue). The third biggest issue is that the guilty fear repercussions for their actions. I dunno.

But at the end of the day. Aging swingers. Yuck, amirite?

Ageism > sexism. I reckon that “misogyny” and sexism are just a smoke screen for aging swingers and people who pile up wealth and hoard guilt hide behind.

* if you have 5-10 million dollars of assets, then you want to run society in such a manner as to make sure that you stay wealthy, and that your assets keep on increasing in value. And so you lobby the government. And you use money.

If you have 2-5 million dollars in assets, and are nearing retirement, or have just retired. Then you might be massively preoccupied with asset prices and maintaining and keeping those prices up (your ten houses, or your business, or stocks, or land banking. Ahhhhhh land banking ugh.). And so you worry! And push for policies that help you. Often this is about age. ^ this paragraph is a bit slapdash, but it’s true enough. And it’s a really, really good point.

And a lot of these people think that the poor will just waste the money. Or that the government wastes money anyway. Or immigrants. Or that the system is bogus anyway. And they’re half right. But you need to just look at the situation. And analyse it.

Added:

Skinny jeans are to be banned. Because they are encouraging women to diet too much.

Leggings aren't pants. You can wear them as pants. Yoga pants are only allowed in yoga studios. And besides, just wear shorts over top!

Bare legs and midriffs on TV are encouraging women to diet too much.

Ban bare women's legs and midriffs on TV. Except for things like Olympic swimming events.

*

Ban the UFC and MMA for money in NZ.

Ban professional boxing in NZ.

It's encouraging men to emulate the people on TV. And it's not healthy.

Principle: contact sports are a good thing and an important part of growing up. But they are best enjoyed in moderation.

Principle: Wrestling is great. And it's good for youngsters sometimes teenagers.

Value: Emulating fighters on TV who are really hurting one another a lot isn't a good thing. They get really badly hurt!

Right to leave and ability to leave:

If you want to leave New Zealand, someone in the country will pay your ticket to leave, guarantee that your assets are sold for the best price they can get, your belongings are sent after you in good condition if possible, and they give you enough money to support your accomodation and food for 1-3 months (with reason). If you have a small minded, parochial democracy, then if the rules change, you should be able to leave. It's only fair.
