More Skunkworks

Thursday 4th June 2026

Why not take a 12 story high apartment building. Or an office building. And fill every second floor with cans. That should work just fine. Or I hope it works. It is still a skunk works!

Use clean, loose, lightly crushed cans. Crush the cans individually. Then fill the rooms.

I don’t know if it would work.

This picture is of a building on The Terrace in Wellington Central, New Zealand.

Once you have filled up half of the apartments with crushed cans you might end up having 55 out of 110 apartments being usable for occupancy. These are 1, 2 or 3 bedroom apartments.

Here is a link to a really bad video of the inside of those apartments:

**

Or do it in Auckland, or Dunedin. All over the place.

See also “the dark forest problem” in the three body problem. About not becoming visible to the system. Hiding and total silence. There is something to learn from there. Not for every one of these apartment buildings, but for many of them.

Clarification and update. When I said bulkheads. I just meant that you have to make sure that the cans don’t slip out of the door. So let us say that you are filling apartments in a 12 floor building. So just inside the door of a bedroom, you put up a barrier made of plywood, and 2x4 pieces of wood. And you put two windows or openings in the barrier. And throw cans through the middle one, until it is full up until that height. And then close it. And then throw cans through the higher window. Until the room is full to the brim. Just make sure you can fill the room. And that the cans can’t slip out. Use common sense! Maybe the middle window is actually a door. Just out of plywood. Don’t over think it.

Probably not ready as an idea. But treat it as catchers of the “electromagnetic winds”. Power poles, ropes, bags and sacks (maybe use pillow cases to hold the cans) of lightly crushed aluminium cans hanging from the ropes. And plenty of quantity. Unsure of spread. But scale of top down picture is 5 m to a cube, and 10m to a cm (two cubes). The side view is spread out twice as much. The scale doesn’t quite make sense.

This idea isn’t ready for testing. But it is a fun idea. You could use it at a university to create a public forum for conversation.

But don’t forget that these rays have to intersect, and bounce around all over the place. A lot of this stuff is done in “post processing” if you know what I mean. It’s all statistics and interpolation. And computer science and “brute forcing”.

What if we had a place where we could discuss things like the pope's most recent comments about "disarming" AI. A place in the backyard perhaps where you could sit and drink tea and talk. And then also some web forums where you could talk with people who weren't present. And what if we had a place where you could sit and write paper letters to one another? Or places where you can Skype your family and friends to talk about it, over video chat. Or have a group chat, but only the hermit version.

Backyard sleep out or office

Back of the envelope ideas…

Action point: do a prototype and then come up with blueprints for a super useful backyard cabin, sleep out or office. I might draw a “front on” view later.

It is a cabin that measures about 4.5 metres by 4 metres. But a lot of that is just cans in compartments. I’m not sure if the cans should be crushed loose cans, or whole loose cans, but both could be tried. They should be clean, “factory fresh” cans, clean from the factory. It should have a concrete base, probably.

If someone can build a working prototype, then it will spread like wildfire.

It is for the “everyman”. The everyman could have one. At least in the suburbs where they have space, in places like New Zealand, Australia, England, Canada, America, Ireland and Argentina.

*as could the “everywoman”

Two ideas: Townhouse Conversion Project and Townhouse Construction Project

You might trying doing townhouses (and/or terraced houses).

Purchase five townhouses.

Fill three of them with cans, and then live in the other two.

It goes house full of cans - inhabited house - house full of cans - inhabited house - house full of cans

**

I will now show you some pictures and fill in a few details

These images are from Sevenoaks, Kent, England

If you fill in the entirety of the house to the left of it with cans, and the house to the right of it, then the one in the middle might be sheltered and clear. Do this for a set of five houses.

*Use clean, loose, (perhaps) uncrushed, factory fresh aluminium cans, divvied up by means of wooden bulkheads. Use plywood and pine two by fours to build the bulkheads, and use hinges and easy to close doors in the bulkheads. Put normal height doors and upper doors into the bulkheads, if you know what I mean. Put a normal door into the bulkheads. But also put a mini door up high close to the height of the ceiling.

***

Build some new townhouses from scratch, faraday shielded

Second idea: new builds, custom made to be faraday shielded

New idea: create new builds with the same floor plan as these terraced houses. But instead of jamming them up against one another, just build a compartment 1-2 metre wide in between them, to insulate them from the rays and prevent triangulation and therefore targeting and tracking of nervous system tissue. Make the compartment run the full length of the home, and make it two stories high.

Imagine a whole street of newly built townhouses, with a two metre compartment between each of them. The compartment runs the full 10 metre length of the terraced townhouse, it is two stories high, and two metre wide, and it is full to the brim with loose aluminium cans, uncrushed, perfectly clean, factory fresh. Imagine that it looks much like the floor plan above (the one I borrowed from a real estate website) and the picture of the townhouse that I borrowed above also.

***

Here are a few more pictures of the interior of the townhouse.

By the way, my family came from Kent (Tonbridge to be precise).

**

Use Cases:

If it can be done, what could you do with it? The answer is that you could build a set of three townhouses (with dividers) in a place like Wellington, New Zealand. Suburbs such as Thorndon, Wilton, Kelburn, Wadestown, Mt Victoria, Te Aro and Karori might be suitable. Lower Hutt might also be suitable. You could build many such sets of three townhouses.

These townhouses could house Members of Parliament. They could also house policy and research advisors. As well as other staff such as parliamentary researchers, secretaries, office managers, IT personnel and security personnel.

Members of Parliament from parties such as the National Party, the ACT Party and the NZ First Party might use them. Over time, it is highly likely that Members of Parliament from the Labour Party, Green Party and Maori Party will start using them also.

***

End.

Another Example of a Convertible Motel

One more motel, just imagine it. Half of the rooms full of clean, loose, perhaps uncrushed aluminium cans. And the remaining rooms might be full useable.

Terraced houses, England: no wider than 4-5 metres. Full every second one with clean, loose aluminium cans.

The People's Republic of China

The Xinjiang provincial government, formally known as the People's Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, could fund the purchase and conversion of multiple local hotels in the Xinjiang region into faraday sheltered environments. And then rent these now sheltered hotel rooms out as apartments and offices.

The Hilton Garden Inn or the Kuqa Hotel might work. Those are just two examples.

People could do similar things in Tibet or in Hong Kong. Or they could self-fund conversions of hotel buildings into apartments and offices in Hunan or Guangdong.

Please don’t forget that this is still a skunkworks. And these are all ideas in development.

What if you could do it in a New York hotel? Such as La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham New York City Central Park? And fill exactly half of the rooms with clean, loose, crushed cans, or even clean, loose, semi crushed cans. And then rent the other half of the rooms out?

Here is an example:

**

Or what if you could do it in a New Zealand hotel like the Wellington Novotel Hotel, accessible from both The Terrace and Lambton Quay? And fill exactly half of that hotel’s 139 rooms with cans?

Motel 6, Midtown, Austin, Texas

I didn’t scribble out the rooms that have cans in the them. But just imagine it. This place has 113 rooms. If you fill half of them with cans, then you have 57 rooms.

Birmingham Motel 6

The specific Motel 6 in Birmingham, Alabama (located at 151 Vulcan Rd) features 88 rooms.

What if you could fill half of them with clean, loose, crushed cans and have 44 useable rooms leftover?

What if you could then rent them out as offices and apartments (not traditional motel rooms)?

And then what if the tenants could use them for all sorts of purposes?

Such as church offices.

Here are some examples of local churches that might be suitable: Church of the Highlands, Brooks Hill, Faith Chapel, Hunter Street Baptist Church, Briarwood Presbyterian Church, More Than Conquerers Faith Church.

The pastoral care teams could have rooms in the motel. The pastors, youth pastors, women’s ministry leadership, administrative staff, the welfare and community support offices of a church (such as Mercy Ministry at Briarwood Presbyterian, Birmingham, Alabama) could be housed in rented rooms. As could some of their staff.

For example, Briarwood: Food bank, clothing bank, foster care ministry, prison outreach ministry, youth outreach ministry, sanctity of life ministry, doctors clinics, nurses clinics, mother's ministry meeting rooms, small groups meeting rooms, spaces for charitable giving, offices for their private police department, offices for their teachers and school staff, disability ministry, and outreach support for elderly.

Doctors, lawyers, accountants and other professionals. Offices for private security companies, including observation rooms for CCTV cameras.

Women’s refuges, genuine ones. Christian ones. Not feminist or Marxist ones. Men’s refuges haha. Refuge for the elderly. Youth drop in centre. Community drop in centres. Christian citizens advise bureaus.

Hunter Street Baptist Church: Women's ministry and women's groups, satellite church services. Not just in this one motel installation, but in many, many locations.

More Than Conquerers Church: Counselling offices, offices and rooms for the following: women’s fellowship, men’s fellowship, youth ministry, support groups, alcoholics recovery groups, divorce recovery, Jeremiah Recovery, Young Ruths (Girl’s ministry, ages 10-12), FOCUS (young mens’s ministry, homicide prevention, opposing senseless murders and the apparent disregard for the value of life) [link], women’s groups promoting modesty. That sort of thing.

At the moment I’m thinking black churches (it would work well for lots of things).

Outside of that, what about a sheriff’s office, a judge’s office, or a mayor’s offic?. What if every city and major town across the USA had a motel converted to accomodation and offices, and then sheriffs, police chiefs, mayors and judges could get an extra office (outside of their usual offices) from which to work if they needed it?

What about a church that rented rooms, and then sublet them to social groups. Such as Bible studies, knitting clubs, bridge clubs, and other clubs. They could do this easily. It would be for the sort of clubs who only need it twice a week for two hours at a time.

As well as basic accomodation.

Anyway, building conversions seem sensible to me.

**

Look up this particular motel six in Vegas, it has 600 rooms. 195 East Tropicana Avenue, Las Vegas Strip, Las Vegas, NV. Just look it up on Google maps or Apple Maps. It is huge.

Imagine that it has 50% of the rooms full of cans, and the other half are inhabited by people. And every room has four bunks and houses either four men or four women. And you pack it full of Chinese dissidents. And you house 1000 of them. And the remainder of the rooms are used for offices. And the start a regime change operation from Vegas, that includes media, propaganda, planning, management and support for sheltering refugees, dissidents. It includes financing, fund raising and construction. It involves buying up as much infrastructure as possible around the world to shelter other Chinese dissidents. They also come up with psy ops campaigns, and start influencing the politics of nations who are friendly to China at the moment. They train and support lobbyists. They support the enemies of the CCP and the PRC. They high tech research, to allow good ICT for “sheltered” people. They work alongside churches in the USA who are being oppressed by the system. They work alongside white, black, Chinese and Korean churches.

By the way, there are 6 motel sixes in Vegas alone. Some people don’t comprehend this fully, but the level of infrastructure and real estate that exists in America is mind boggling. There might be a huge amount of easily convertible real estate in places like America.

Also, safe havens for journalists and technologists.

And safe havens for certified public accountants, chartered accountants, chartered financial analysts, portfolio managers, and other people involved in asset management. Also, safe havens for people working in private equity, venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, and hedge funds. Lawyers as well. If you are a high net worth individual, then your accountant might be able to get an office there.

Safe havens for your local MP or congress critter. They might be able to rent an office. The local electorate office for your MP, or district office for your congressman might be in a faraday shielded motel. In Germany your local representative might have a constituency office, or in France your local representative (deputy) might have their permanence in one. Furthermore, they could maintain their main office in the usual location, but have a second office in a converted, faraday shielded motel. They might also get an apartment in one.

You could even do a proof of concept with loose, clean cans in a suburban family home. Or a small apartment block with tiny apartments no more than 4 metres across. Just do one room on either side of the room you want to shield. Just if you have three rooms in a row. Do the room to the left and right of it. Totally chocka full of cans. It is just a test. Shield even just one rooms, and see how you go.

The rooms scribbled out in red are to be filled with cans. Fill them to the brim with loose, “virgin” aluminium drinks cans. Totally clean and fresh from the factory, no dirt or sugar or mess on them. Then crush the cans. One at a time, but not into cubes. Just stomp on them. And then take the individually crushed aluminium drinks cans and fill the whole room. And use bulkheads of wood framing (2x4) and plywood, with air holes drilled into them. And extend the bulkheads most of the way to the ceiling. And then use just cardboard for the top bit of the bulkhead. It’s just easier to use cardboard I think. And fill the whole place up! And if you’re in between two apartments full of cans, you should hopefully be clear. And then you can live as a hermit. Uber eats, Netflix, steam, delivered groceries, a cat, a stack of old books and some peace and quiet. Or a Nintendo switch, an Xbox, a piano, a mandolin, a mah Jong table, a poker table, or whatever floats your boat. Hermit life.

Thursday, 14th May 2026

Just fill in every room with a yellow x with a whole lot of clean aluminium cans. Not cubes, but loose. Semi crushed. Not crushed into cubes. Just 50% crushed and loose. And then the remaining rooms might be inhabitable. There are more rooms you can do though. But the photo doesn’t show them. This particular motel is very comfortable and quite nice.

What if the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional People's Congress states that in order to provide refuge to the oppressed, dispossessed and mentally oppressed people of Xinjiang Province, that it shall not only allow for the conversion of motels and hotels to faraday shielded motels, but shall construct large quantities of them with funds belonging to the regional government. I'm not 110% sure that this is the right body, but it will have to do. They possibly don't hold the purse strings, but they might have ways to get things to happen. To do a construction and public housing project going. Because that this is what it would be. A public housing project.

**

Maybe they can pass a law requiring the local “corporation” in Xinjiang to provide faraday shielded housing, motels and apartments. The legislature could do it via housing regulations. That could be the lever that they use.

For refugees seeking asylum: electromagnetic refugees seeking asylum within their own country

Fill exactly 50% of the rooms with cans. Go straight to the factory and buy enormous quantities of loose, clean, unused (virgin) cans. And fill 50% of the rooms with cans. Every occupied room should have a can filled room on either side of it. Create bulkheads out of 2 by 4s and plywood in the rooms, up to about 2.1 height and then use light netting for the top 30 cm of the room, pinned with thumbtacks and staples from a staple gun, (assuming ceilings 2.4 m height). Fill the room to the brim!!

Maybe the hotel becomes useable!?

Above: Belgium

Above: Chisinau, Moldova

Below: Nelson, New Zealand

Below: imagine filling every second unit of the building with loose aluminium cans. Loose, clean, unused, uncrushed (or sometimes half crushed) (virgin) aluminium cans. Fill the units in a staggered pattern. Maybe it works really well. The other option might be to fill up the bedrooms with cans, and then nail them shut. Use bulkheads (or compartments).

Thursday, 28th May 2026

This one isn’t ready, but it is a fun idea. I hope to re draw it. A brick building. Throw the cans over the internal wall. Outer wall is 2.4 high, inner is 2.1 high. Or something like that. Maybe 2.1 inner, and 2.6 outer.

But you just throw cans over it.

And you use it as a safe house, or an internet hut, or a conversation hut. I imagine it being used even in places like rural Bolivia, in poor towns. The one room where you can have a conversation, and plug yourself into the internet using a laptop. You run power to it from another house, and run Ethernet to it from another spot. And you have access to web-forums (which are also hosted inside a faraday shielded location). And every town or village has its own sub forum, and you have forums that can be used nationwide. You could also hold special afternoons where people could sit inside buildings and write in journals. You could also do Skype calls. It restores conversation.

You might add a “service access door” to the exterior. Maybe at the very top of the picture, in case you want to clear out the cans sometime. That might be a good modification. Just a normal door to the exterior “north wall”. But keep it locked. - I just added one.

The cans should be clean, unused cans. Not a _hint_ of sugar residue on them. They should be loose as well. I’m not sure if they should be crushed or uncrushed. Crushed loose cans might be the way to go. Also, if you really wanted to use used cans, you should wash them inside and out with warm soapy water, and dry them fully before using them. Any sugary residue will be bad. And attract insects or cockroaches and spiders (the other insects attract spiders). Or grow mould. I’m not sure exactly what. By the way, I’m sure that you can buy fresh clean cans directly from the factory. Or a factory.

**

The room should by four metres by four metres.

**

It could also be used in a place like Cuba. Each town or village. Use it as an internet room, so you can talk to any location that also has an internet room. The local mayor or government representative could use it for a weekly meeting with other mayors or government representatives over Skype. They could have a video chat. Activists could use it. Just take your laptop into it, and have a Skype call.

**

There would be many use cases.

Some people would build them just for themselves and their families. You can’t even share a private moment with a child, husband, wife or other family member at the moment. It’s insane.

**

If you needed more cans or whatever, you can just double up on the space available for cans. Make it a two metre wide space. Or something like that. Because of the way the triangulation works, I think a wider “moat” or compartment might increase the effectiveness. Don’t over think it.

****
****

Build four studios, and face them towards one another.
Each square is 5 mm. And two squares is 1 cm, which is equal to a metre. This is the laziest and worst image yet. It’s just an expansion of the idea just above this.
